An expert jury has awarded PMS Elektro- und Automationstechnik GmbH the 2020 Environmental Management prize in the category “Best Environmental Statement.” PMS first won the prize back in 2016.
The Austrian Ministry for Climate Action, Environment, Energy, Mobility, Innovation and Technology (BMK) awards the Environmental Management prize every year, recognising businesses and public sector organisations for outstanding achievements in environmental and climate protection and in environmental communication. Prizes are awarded in the “Best EMAS Environmental Statement” and “Best Environmental and Climate Protection Measures” categories.
Following successful introduction and validation of EMAS in 2014, PMS picked up the EMAS Environmental Management prize just a year later in 2015 and then the Best Environmental Statement award in 2016. “This new award confirms that we should continue with the approach we have been taking in environmental management”, said a delighted Martin Grünwald, Head of HSEQ-IT at PMS. Federal Minister Leonore Gewessler presented Grünwald with the award for PMS at the official ceremony at the Urania in Vienna on 27 October 2020.
In the Environmental Statement, which needs to be validated by an approved environmental auditor, an organisation outlines its current environmental achievements, policies and impacts as well as its environmental management system. When awarding the prize for this category, the jury focuses on the quality and graphic design of the Environmental Statement, how it is used, and other steps taken as part of an environmental communication strategy.
“The Environmental Statement from PMS Elektro- und Automationstechnik GmbH conveyed a consistent and authentic image of the company and contains a commitment to a “Vision – Mission” representative of a highly specialised industry. PMS demonstrates high levels of technical expertise and a willingness to invest financially in environmental policies, as well as a commitment to tackling health and safety issues. Overall, they put the concerns of their staff at the heart of their efforts, giving them the impetus to develop and enhance their CSR reporting”, explained the jury at the award ceremony.
The PMS Environmental Statement is put together and implemented by the in-house Marketing and HSEQ team, from conceptual design and text production through to organisation of photos and graphic design. Everyone on the team is delighted to win this award as a token of recognition for their hard work.
